This Week’s Specialty Show Lineup: Linus of Hollywood Tells All on Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation, and Two All-New Pop Tunes Deejay Shows Thrill With the Latest Melodic Pop Sounds

By Alan Haber – Pure Pop Radio

alan headshot from school

This week, Linus of Hollywood brings a sense of good old cabin-essence to Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation, and two all-new editions of Alan Haber’s Pop Tunes Deejay Show thrill with the latest and greatest melodic pop sounds from across the decades.

LOH - Cabin Life Cover V2-3It’s been nearly 20 years since Linus of Hollywood’s debut platter, Your Favorite Record, charmed listeners for whom melody was, and continues to be, king. Linus’s new release, Cabin Life, is the main topic of conversation during his 70-minute appearance on Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation this Wednesday at 9 pm ET on Pop that Goes Crunch Radio.

in conversation new graphic grey

In addition to talking about and playing a pair of wonderful songs from Cabin Life, Linus also dishes about his move to Los Angeles as a 21-year-old looking for his big musical break, his time spent as a member of the punk-pop band Size 14 (and wait until you hear who played keyboards on their album!), his work with soft-pop queen Margo Guryan, and the writing and recording of what may well be his best album, Cabin Life. It’s another in-depth back-and-forth you won’t want to miss.

pop tunes disc smallTomorrow night (Tuesday) on Alan Haber’s Pop Tunes Deejay Show (8 pm ET), you’ll dig a set of pretty ballads from Bread, PFR and Jellyfish; new songs from Farrington, Magpie, Chris Richards and the Subtractions, Fireproof Sam and the Network Stars, Lord High Admirals, Radio Days, Nick Batterham, and Chris Price; and classics from Paul McCartney, Marc Jonson and more.

This Thursday night, also at 8 pm ET, another hour of new and new-to-you melodic pop tunes comes at you on another all-new Pop Tunes Deejay Show from the Hudson Brothers, the Carousels, Brian Jay Cline, the Jeremy Band, the Bonzo Dog Band, Dropkick, Ken Sharp, Todd Rundgren, and lots more, including a triple play from David Myhr. Plus, as on all Pop Tunes Deejay Shows, my snappy deejay patter!

Don’t miss another week’s worth of outstanding Pure Pop Radio programming, heard on Pop that Goes Crunch Radio. Enjoy!

Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation Podcasts: Dana Countryman (Airdate: November 8, 2017)

By Alan Haber – Pure Pop Radio alan headshot from school

dana countryman the joy of pop coverAs I wrote this past January in my Favorite Records of the Year: Stars of 2017 feature, “The fourth time’s the charm, although it certainly can be said that the previous three times have been equally charming; The Joy of Pop is nothing less than a joy, another in a growing line of wonderful retro-pop albums from a master of melody.”

dana-countryman-bw

Dana Countryman

Dana Countryman was my guest on Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation last November 8 to talk about The Joy of Pop, a lineup of great songs made stronger with the help of compatriots like Matt Tyson, Dana’s wife Tricia and Klaatu’s Dee Long. Lovely  songs such as “August Dream,” a Broadway-styled creation influenced, no doubt, by the work of Richard Carpenter, Burt Bacharach and Gilbert O’Sullivan, and “Can’t Stop Thinking ‘Bout You,” a jangly number graced with Dee Long’s beautiful guitar work, barely scratch the surface of this wonderful collection.

Listen to the songs played during this interview–“August Dream,” “Tell Me that You Love Me,” and “Can’t Stop Thinking ‘Bout You”–by clicking here.

Pop Springs Eternal! Pure Pop’s Salute to Spring…Showers the World with Tunes and Talk this Week

alan headshot from schoolBy Alan Haber – Pure Pop Radio

springThe world will be a groovier place tomorrow. How could it not be? Tomorrow is the first day of Spring, when flowers bloom, birds are heard singing their hearts out, the air becomes more agreeable, and baseball season begins. How could the first day of Spring be anything other than the day the world turns ’round?

pop tunes disc smallIt is nothing less than a lucky stroke that the first of two all-new editions of Alan Haber’s Pop Tunes Deejay Show airs tomorrow night, Tuesday, at 8 pm ET on Pop that Goes Crunch Radio. The program blooms with Crowded House’s lovely song “Weather With You” and slides from there into an extended set of songs celebrating the beginning of the Spring season; Henry Gross, the Paley Brothers, the Lilac Time, the Beach Boys, Gleeson and Elvis Presley, among others, bow to the wonder of it all.

secret friend divorce albumBut that’s only the beginning: We’ve got an exclusive first play of a groovy new song from Secret Friend’s forthcoming record, The Divorce Album, bowing April 6; the new single from Caper Clowns; Marc Jonson’s rollicking and tuneful tribute to Pat DiNizio and the Smithereens; new music from Anton Barbeau and Michael Simmons, and much, much more.

david myhr lucky day coverThursday night at 8 pm ET, another all-new hour-long spin fills the airwaves and the Pop Tunes Deejay Show brings you new music from Brian Jay Cline, David Myhr, Spencer McGillicutty’s Mitchell Adam Johnson, Fireproof Sam and the Network Stars, and Linus of Hollywood, plus classics from Bertling Noise Laboratories, Longplayer, and Chris Brown. And my snappy deejay patter!
