For the latest entry in his now legendary Songs of the Week project, Timmy Sean ramps everything up to 11 with a no-holds-barred, batten down the hatches, watch-out-and-lock-the-freakin’-doors rolling tumble down the rabbit hole slice of rop and poll: a song that comes from Timmy’s Sir Video side project.
Radio ready and breathless, “Backdoor Baby” is a relentlessly rockin’ tune with great lead and background vocals, a terrific chord progression, an awesome arrangement, handy handclaps (see below), and an Eddie Van Halen-esque guitar solo that runs rings around the sound field. In other words, this is another Timmy Sean winner. Get ready to blast off!
Timmy says: “Here’s something a little bit different. With Hollywood literally being taken over by Van Halen today, I decided to push back my planned ‘Song of the Week’ until next Tuesday and give a little sneak peek at my long gestating side project, Sir Video, with a song inspired by the collaboration of Michael Jackson and Eddie Van Halen.
“‘Backdoor Baby’ was the first song I wrote with the Sir Video project in mind back in 2007 (in fact, I kept the handclaps of my LUZER bandmates Chris Volk, Krishna Vasudevan, and Dan Seeth from the original 2007 demo on this final mix), and though it’s a bit of a departure for some fans of my Timmy Sean and LUZER material, I think the guitar solo section of this tune in particular may be something of an entry point for my rock fans out there into the more synth-pop landscape of Sir Video.
“For those of you who are rock traditionalists, I have something in store for you next week. But if you don’t mind your powerpop with a large helping of electro- and synthpop, be sure to check out Sir Video at sirvideo.bandcamp.com and on FB at www.facebook.com/sirvideo. In the meantime, here’s one for MJ and EVH!”
