Alan Haber’s Pop Tunes Salutes the Weather From a Seasonal Perspective. Tonight!

pop tunes disc smallumbrellaWe’re back, and just in time! Alan Haber, all decked out in a resplendent yellow raincoat, thigh-high boots and warm, woolen mittens, holds the official Pop Tunes Deejay Show promotional umbrella over tonight’s array of catchy numbers celebrating weather in many, if not all, of its forms. The musical forecast begins tonight at 9 pm ET (6 pm PT) on Pure Pop radio.

Supertramp’s rather catchy pop song, “It’s Raining Again,” a top 15 Billboard Hot 100 hit in 1982, starts off the show with a salute to rain, which many consider a soothing situation–unless, of course, you’re out driving in it with your windshield wipers set on high. The music pours down with the Box Tops, the Grip Weeds, Mark Lindsay, Sgt. Popgrass and Four O’Clock Balloon holding court.

snow untouchedA set of tunes about mist–also a soothing prospect, unless you’re driving in it–follows, starring Ray Stevens, Lesley Gore, the Chocolate Watch Band and the Chesterfield Kings. From mist, Alan turns his attention to snow, also a soothing…well, you know. Vegas With Randolph (with guest star and weather forecaster Alan Haber), Mickey Rooney (yes, Mickey Rooney), the Pearlfishers, and Lou Christie and the Tammys make snow bunnies before winter turns to spring and the music salutes the season of rebirth; the temperatures begin to rise, the weather becomes easier to bear overall, points made clear by way of music from the Paley Brothers, the Legal Matters and Andrea Perry.

To close out tonight’s show, this week’s Beatle Blast teams up with Pop Tunes’ traditional One and Done closing set for the lovely number, “I’ll Follow the Sun.”
