For those of you who think that some things never change, you’re probably right. Nevertheless, here’s one shining exception to the rule: Summer is almost ready to swap places with autumn, at least according to the calendar we got from the local garden center, yet temperatures outside the spacious Pure Pop Radio headquarters are still hovering around the low 90s like a spot that won’t come out of the hall carpet.
Also, it’s true, as it ever was, that despite your best efforts, Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, or one of its cousins or nearby neighbors, will occasionally knock you on your head, or at least pull the hall carpet out from under your feet.
Which brings me to the here and now, within which several, ongoing, health issues are being met head on with the feeling of being so in the thick of it that the only sane course of action is to take a break from deadlines and work instead in the background, putting, at the same time, Maxwell’s Silver Hammer as far back in the rearview mirror as possible.

So, for the next two weeks and until around October 5, we’ll be taking a break: work will continue apace behind the scenes, but none of our specialty shows will air. Pure Pop, the Radio Station, however, will continue to run, so fear not: you will still be able to get your daily dose of the greatest melodic pop music in the universe from the ’60s to today (click on one of the listen links below for proof). Hundreds of new songs have been added to the playlist in the past few weeks; they will be reported in our usually fairly frequent posts in due course.
We do have a new edition of Pop Tunes running tonight at 9 pm ET (6 pm PT), and a brand-new interview sit-down with melodic pop magician Dana Countryman airing tomorrow night on Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation, at a special time: 9 pm ET (6 pm PT). Plus, we’re giving away copies of Dana’s new CD, Pop 3! Welcome to My Time Warp!; see a separate story today to enter.
We’ll be back in full force soon enough, as long as the creek don’t rise and the Cabbage Patch dolls still don’t actually speak. This is a good thing. We know you’ll miss us, and we’ll miss you.
So until we return on or about October 5, when, presumably, autumn will be fully set in its ways and the new television season will be set firmly in stone (well, as much as it can ever be), we bid you a fond have-a-great-time-listening-to-Pure-Pop-Radio-while-we’re-gone and wish you a pleasant good night.
