Alan Haber's Pure Pop Radio

Alan Haber's Pure Pop Radio is the archive for the premiere website that covered the melodic pop scene with in-depth reviews of new and reissued recordings, and a wide variety of features. We are now closed for new activity.

Big Names! Big Stars! Another Fab Week of Specialty Shows on Pure Pop Radio!

alan-mic-zWe’re pulling out all the stops with this week’s specialty shows! Big names! Big stars! Top tunes! And so much more. Pure Pop Radio is your one-stop-melodic-pop-shop this week!

everylittlethinglogo-smallOn tonight’s all-new edition of radio’s premiere Beatles extravaganza Every Little Thing, kicking off at 8 pm ET, Ken Michaels talks to Denny Laine, whose work with Wings and the original Moody Blues before that is legendary. Denny’s got a number of cool concerts coming up, during which he’ll be playing the entire Band on the Run album; check out Ken’s website for dates and details.

needle meets vinylBrian Bringelson spins the coolest vinyl from across the decades on this Wednesday night’s all-new special twofer edition of Needle Meets Vinyl (8 pm ET). Save for the opening one-two punch of the Beatles’ “I Me Mine” and George Harrison’s rocking “The Art of Dying,” which is kinda sorta a twofer, Brian’s turntable sounds off with mini-sets from Bob Dylan, the Shins, Big Star, the Doors, Squeeze and a whole lot more. It’s show 32 from the man from Anchor and Bear, now recording their second album.

the-beatles-things-we-said-todayDid we say big stars? We did! There’s a big literary, Beatles-centric star behind the guest microphone on this week’s Things We Said Today, the authoritative Fabs roundtable. None other than Philip Norman, famed author of the Beatles bio Shout!, speaks with our learned panelists about his new book Paul McCartney: The Life. This exhaustive work is discussed in detail after a look back at the life of Tony Barrow, the Beatles’ press officer from 1962 to 1968, who recently passed.

starsPure Pop Radio: In Conversation returns next week with the first of two double-decker combo shows anchored by, you guessed it, big names. Big stars! We’ll announce the first round of guests tomorrow, right here.

Meanwhile, enjoy this week’s run of specialty shows. Pure Pop Radio is pulling out all the stops, and it’s all for you!
