It’s all new this week on Pure Pop Radio: we’ve got another Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation twofer, a brand-new Every Little Thing (at a special time), a new Needle Meets Vinyl, and a new Things We Said Today. Make a date to have some fun with us!
Tonight, June 6, at 8 pm ET, longtime pop music critic and the man behind the International Pop Overthrow festivals, David Bash, checks in to talk with Alan on Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation. This must rank as David’s most in-depth interview ever. David will take you from his early days listening to and collecting music through to his presenting the work of artists worldwide at IPO. You’ll hear four songs that have appeared on the annual IPO CD collections–songs that David feels epitomize what the festival is all about. This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of pop music’s top observers; you won’t want to miss it.
Tomorrow night, June 7, at 8 pm ET, musician Michael Oliver checks in behind the microphone to talk about the wonderful songs he’s working on for his next album, Everything Sunny All the Time Always. Michael’s rich, heartfelt melodies are something to behold; we feel these new songs are among his best yet. Don’t miss an hour with one of pop music’s most talented practitioners.
Ken Michaels’s Every Little Thing is all new tonight, June 6, at a special time, 7 pm ET. Ken talks to musician Jeff Slate, whose latest album, Secret Poetry, includes a song called “The Same” that is a nod to Wings and even includes a familiar riff from Paul McCartney’s “Jet.” Also on tonight’s show: Ken spins a theme set of Beatles and solo Beatles songs in triple time, and an opening set that features George Harrison and John Lennon.
Brian Bringelson is once again behind the turntables this Wednesday night, June 8, for another edition of the all-vinyl program, Needle Meets Vinyl. Show 33 spotlights classic numbers from The Idle Race, the Zombies, John Phillips, the Hollies, the Supremes, Harry Nilsson and many more of your favorite artists.
Ken Michaels, Steve Marinucci, Al Sussman and Allan Kozinn gather around the Beatles roundtable this Thursday night, June 9, on Things We Said Today to talk to none other than famed singer Billy J. Kramer. Billy’s new book is Do You Want to Know a Secret, written in conjunction with Alyn Shipton, author of Nilsson: The Life of a Singer-Songwriter. Billy talks about his history as a performer, meeting the Beatles, and much more.
That’s this week’s specialty shows on Pure Pop Radio. A pretty striking bunch! We’ve got your evening entertainment covered!
