We’ve unmasked our timely mystery guest appearing on tonight’s all-new edition of Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation: It’s Mark Bacino, longtime Pure Pop Radio favorite, whose smashing, poppy, hey-everybody’s-saying-it’s-jaunty new song “Not that Guy” is being greeted with hugs throughout the melodic pop universe. The show airs tonight at 8 pm ET.
Just released, “Not that Guy” charts the course of someone who wants to be invested in his relationship but finds himself relegated to persona non grata status. Mark sums up the feeling thusly: “Bad guys finish first/They always run in packs of lies/Nice guys bear the curse/Forever at the starting gate, holding your purse…” Who wants to be “that guy” instead of the viable other half in a relationship?
“Not that Guy” is all toe-tappingly perky and happy sounding and above all catchy as catchy can be–perfect melodic pop music married to a lyric that puts a musical spin on a familiar emotional situation. It’s prime Bacino, and the first of many more new songs to come.
On tonight’s In Conversation, Mark goes in-depth on “Not that Guy,” talking about the song’s lyrics and the song’s clever construction. Plus, we enter the WABAC (pronounced Wayback) Machine and pop out in 1998 for the release of Mark’s first album, Pop Job…the Long Player!, released on Parasol Records. Mark talks about the album’s song “Kay,” and we spin it, along with “Not that Guy.”
Don’t miss master tunesmith Mark Bacino on tonight’s timely, all-new edition of Pure Pop Radio: In Conversation. Tune in at 8 pm ET on Pure Pop Radio. Don’t miss a minute!
