Alan Haber's Pure Pop Radio is the archive for the premiere website that covered the melodic pop scene with in-depth reviews of new and reissued recordings, and a wide variety of features. We are now closed for new activity.
The Donays’ classic 1962 song, “Devil in His Heart,” made its way to Liverpool’s favorite sons and appeared, with a gender switch, on the Beatles’ 1963 album, With the Beatles. “Devil in Her Heart” is in the spotlight in tonight’s second segment on Ken Michaels’ Every Little Thing, kicking off at 9 pm ET on Pure Pop Radio. You’ll hear the Donays’ version and the one made famous by the Beatles. An unbeatable pair!
And that’s not all. There are treasures galore on tonight’s show. Take the opening, varied set for example, featuring the Beatles’ “For You Blue,” Paul McCartney’s “Junk” (tried out by the Fabs during the Let It Be sessions), and a guest appearance by none other than King Lear himself!
Tonight’s third, themed segment rolls out five songs that have the word “world” in the title, from Ringo Starr’s “Weight of the World” and George Harrison’s “Living in the Material World” to Paul McCartney’s “The World Tonight.” The planet spins around and around on tonight’s Every Little Thing!
Set your Beatles alarm clock for 9 pm ET tonight. Don’t miss a second of Every Little Thing and Pure Pop Radio!
It’s back to the groovy, wavy-gravy, fab and gear late-sixties–specifically the year 1968–on tonight’s time travel-esque episode of Ken Michaels’ Every Little Thing, airing at 9 pm ET.
Ken hits the Fab Four spot right out of the box with six group and solo tunes, beginning with an early take of George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord” and ending with “Young Boy,” a song that Paul McCartney wrote while waiting for Linda to finish whipping up lunch for a feature for the New York Times. Segment two presents a love songs two-fer and a politically-charged tune from John Lennon, “Bring on the Lucie (Freeda People).”
Have a seat in your very own Fab Four Wayback Machine as Ken spins, in his third, thematic segment, five songs from 1968, including Mary Hopkin’s “Those Were the Days,” produced by Paul McCartney; and the Fabs “Happiness is a Warm Gun.” Nice!
Don’t forget to stay tuned for Ken’s weekly Beatles trivia question–and the answer! Put on your groovy thinking cap and see how much you know about your favored Fabs! Set your alarm clocks for 9 pm ET tonight. This is gonna be a good one!
You’ve probably been saying “I love me that Every Little Thing show, but how can they knock it even further out of the park than they already have?”
Well, here’s the answer: Our good friend Ken Michaels has found a way and you’ll hear all about it tonight at 9 pm ET! For this exciting go-round of all things Beatles, Ken has assembled a fabalicious trio of segments that will satisfy every Beatles fan from Anchorage to Australia. First, you’ll hear a quartet of tunes from the Fabs, George Harrison and a cool cover from the Susan Cowsill Band. Next, the great Arthur Alexander will step up to the microphone and the Beatles will answer back with a cover of Alexander’s song “Anna.” And last but certainly not least, Ken will spin five songs with a different Beatle singing the lead vocal. Uh huh, uh huh, this is pretty cool, huh?
Don’t forget to stay tuned at the end of the show for Ken’s Beatles Trivia Question. Will you come up with the answer?
