Ken Michaels’ Every Little Thing Lights Up Pure Pop Radio’s 25 Days of Holiday Cheer

everylittlethinglogo-smallKen Michaels’ Every Little Thing is brand-new tonight at 8 pm ET (5 pm PT) on Pure Pop Radio. This fun episode is one of our gifts to you during our 25 Days of Holiday Cheer.

Ken kicks off the fun with a wonderful opening, varied segment that brings tracks from the Beatles, John Lennon, George Harrison, and the Bellfuries, who roll through an energetic cover of the Fabs’ “She’s a Woman,” a track suggested to Ken by our own Alan Haber.

Tonight’s second segment presents an interview with Beatles author Kit O’Toole, who offers that Paul McCartney’s Press to Play is one of the overlooked albums in the bassist’s solo career. You’ll hear two songs from Press to Play: the grand ballad, “Only Love Remains,” and the experimental wonder, “Pretty Little Head.”

The show concludes with a set of album closers from Beatles and solo Beatles classic long players, including John Lennon’s “Oh Yoko!” from John’s album Imagine, and “You and Me (Babe),” which was the final cut on Ringo Starr’s Ringo.

The Beatles Anthology Turns 20: Ken, Steve, Al and Allan Discuss This Milestone on Tonight’s Things We Said Today

the-beatles-things-we-said-todayYou just know that important anniversaries related to the world of the Beatles are going to be discussed on the weekly Fab roundtable, Things We Said Today, so it should come as no surprise that Ken Michaels, Steve Marinucci, Al Sussman and Allan Kozinn talk about the 20th anniversary of the Beatles Anthology on tonight’s all-new episode at 8 pm ET (5 pm PT).

It’s almost hard to believe, but it was 20 years ago that ABC television in America broadcast the six-hour-long Anthology program that breathtakingly premiered two new Beatles recordings, based on a cassette containing three John Lennon demos (the third song was never completed).

Of course, the television program was just the start of a series of Anthology releases; the ABC telecasts were followed by videotape and DVD versions of the shows, both with extra material; three, two-CD sets of outtakes and alternate versions of Beatles numbers; and a coffee table Anthology book.

The members of our regular panel of Beatles experts discuss everything you could possibly ever want to know about the Anthology project, arguably the most important Beatles release of the post-breakup years alongside the recent Beatles 1 video and audio packages.

Don’t miss this chance to get inside the Anthology experience on tonight’s all-new edition of Things We Said Today. The discussion begins tonight at 8 pm ET (5 pm PT) on Pure Pop Radio.

Things We Said Today is a weekly survey of all things Beatles that’s hosted by a quartet of Beatles experts–today’s Fab Four, if you will. Ken Michaels, host of Every Little Thing, is joined by Beatlefan Executive Editor Al Sussman, Steve Marinucci(Beatles Examiner), and Allan Kozinn, longtime music critic. Other well-known Beatles experts sometimes sit in with the core group. Things We Said Today airs every Thursday night at 8 pm ET on Pure Pop Radio.

Things We Said Today Panel Talks Beatles 1 and Andy White Tonight

the-beatles-things-we-said-todayTonight’s all-new edition of the Beatles roundtable, Things We Said Today, finds our esteemed panel talking about drummer Andy White, who recently passed away, and the recently-released Beatles 1 and Beatles 1+ video and audio packages. The panel gets in gear at 8 pm ET (5 pm PT) tonight on Pure Pop Radio.

Ken Michaels, Steve Marinucci, Al Sussman and Allan Kozinn note the passing of drummer Andy White, who famously supplied the backbeat for versions of “Love Me Do,” “P.S. I Love You,” and “Please Please Me.” Interestingly, White, a session drummer, also played drums on Herman’s Hermits’ “I’m Henry VIII, I Am.”

Beatles Miracles Under Discussion on Tonight’s Things We Said Today

the-beatles-things-we-said-todayThe regular gang of experts the world has come to know and trust for the most incisive commentary and analysis of just about anything related to the Beatles talks about miracles that the group achieved on tonight’s stellar edition of Things We Said Today, rolling into your world at 8 pm ET (5 pm PT) on Pure Pop Radio.

Ken Michaels, Steve Marinucci, Al Sussman and Allan Kozinn are at the ready with their picks for the biggest miracles realized during the Beatles’ career. Al starts off the discussion by remembering an article he wrote for Beatlefan magazine. The article zeroed in on the Summer of 1969 and the events that changed our world, such as the first landing on the moon, achieved by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins; the outdoor music festival that changed everything, Woodstock; and the Miracle Mets, who won the World Series that year.

beatles abbey roadAlso happening in 1969, as Beatles fans will know, was the release of the classic album Abbey Road. Al talks about how the album was recorded amidst much group tension and turned out to show the group at the height of their collective powers. The rest of our experts agree with Al; Allan remarks that side two is the album’s top draw. Steve offers that he doesn’t “know how many times I’ve cranked up that drum solo.” Ken suggests that it is a miracle that the songs on Abbey Road’s second side sound so good together, despite not being conceived as such.

On tonight’s show, you’ll also hear about “Strawberry Fields Forever” being Allan’s number one pick for a Beatles miracle, and much more. It’s another can’t-miss program.

the-beatles-things-we-said-todaybeatles 1+Beatles 1+, without question one of the most important and most anticipated Beatles releases ever realized in the digital age, is set to delight both hardcore and mainstream fans when it becomes available on November 6. The four Things We Said Today panelists–Ken Michaels, Steve Marinucci, Al Sussman and Allan Kozinn–discuss the impact of this mind-blowing package on tonight’s all-new edition of the premiere Beatles talk show at 8 pm ET (5 pm PT) on Pure Pop Radio.

beatles 1 blu-rayMind-blowing? Is there any other word to describe the Beatles 1+ package, containing two Blu-ray (or DVD) discs and the remixed 1 album? Sure, you can get the newly-presented 1 experience in other configurations (including, at some point, on vinyl), but why would you want to? If there is a modern-day equivalent of the holy grail in the world of the Beatles, this has to be it.

The Things We Said Today panelists offer their reactions to the new Beatles 1 packages, including the news that remixing of the audio has taken place; Ken’s statement pretty much sums up everyone’s view: “I couldn’t be more thrilled,” he says. We can’t argue with that.

Tune in tonight at 8 pm ET (5 pm PT) to hear Ken, Steve, Al and Allan talk about this most welcome event. See you on the radio!
