Steve and Allan, fresh from attending said anniversary performance, report on the goings-on in every detail imaginable, from the sketchy performance of the air conditioning unit in the car to the 100-degree temperatures they had to endure. Oh, and they talk about the persons of note that attended the show–Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono, Giles Martin, and Eight Days a Week: The Touring Years Director Ron Howard.

Also on the agenda: the exciting pre-show audio program, comments from Paul and Ringo and Giles Martin post-show, and a whole lot more. Plus: Ken talks about seeing Paul in Boston at Fenway Park on July 16. It’s another great program from the Beatles community’s most-knowing commentators.

Classic Servings of Vintage Tunes and Vintage Video Star in this Week’s Specialty Shows

alan-mic-zClassic servings of vintage tunes, and vintage video coming in September, are the hot buttons in the spotlight on this week’s specialty shows being broadcast on Pure Pop Radio.

needle meets vinylThis Wednesday night, June 29, at 8 pm ET, musician Brian Bringelson delivers what is arguably his best Needle Meets Vinyl episode yet; 16 songs from 15 spectacular artists make the grade, all spun from vinyl and curated by the Anchor and Bear singer-songwriter.

brian bringelson

Songs from Iron & Wine, Steely Dan, Dusty Springfield, Jackie Wilson, the Doors, Paul and Linda McCartney and the Beach Boys will fill your ears with joy, and Brian’s expert commentary will raise the proceedings to the highest of highs. It’s a program you won’t want to miss.

Needle Meets Vinyl is the weekly show during which all songs are played from vinyl records. The music spans the decades during which popular music has flourished. Curated and presented by Brian Bringelson, a member of the band Anchor and Bear and a solo artist under the name Paul Starling, the show airs every Wednesday night at 8 pm ET.

the-beatles-things-we-said-todayThis Thursday night, June 30, our regular panel of Beatles experts says goodbye to the sixth month of the year with another timely, Fab discussion, this time talking about director Ron Howard’s upcoming Beatles music documentary, Eight Days a Week, which rolls out in theaters this September and settles in on the Hulu streaming network directly after.

There are many questions on the minds of our panel. Beatlefan’s Al Sussman asks, “How much really good quality, new material could there be?” Are Jimmy Nicol, who briefly filled in on tour for a sidelined-by-tonsilitis Ringo Starr in 1964, and Pete Best represented? These questions and more are bandied about in this engaging show featuring Sussman, Ken Michaels, Steve Marinucci and Allan Kozinn.

Things We Said Today is the weekly survey of all things Beatles that’s hosted by a quartet of Beatles experts–today’s Fab Four, if you will. Ken Michaels, host of Every Little Thing, is joined by Beatlefan Executive Editor Al Sussman, Steve Marinucci (Beatles Examiner), and Allan Kozinn, longtime music critic. Things We Said Today airs every Thursday night at 8 pm ET on Pure Pop Radio.

Ken Michaels was in attendance at the Paramount Theatre in Port Chester, New York to see a top flight band, including Todd Rundgren and Santana’s Gregg Rolie, rock the house with a joyous noise. “The band just sounded really killer,” said Ken. Also on the docket: a look at the relationship between the Beatles and Muhammed Ali, who just passed, and another discussion of Paul McCartney’s Pure McCartney compilation that’s kicked off by Ken, which develops into another examination of the release’s plusses and minuses.
