Scott McPherson’s got your midweek lunchtime festival of pure pop sounds to go along with your soup and sandwich combo on the latest get-together known as The Weird and the Wonderful. This Wednesday, October 26 at 1 pm ET, heritage sounds from Florapop and Klaatu mix with tracks from Eric Barao, Prefab Sprout, Frank Bango, Nilsson, Pop 4 and lots more. Plus: Scott remembers back to his first show, on which “Sammy Davis, Jr.” made a memorable visit…
Coming up this Thursday at 8 pm ET on Things We Said Today, Ken Michaels, Steve Marinucci, Al Sussman, and Allan Kozinn gather around the Beatles roundtable for a fun discussion with Lefty and Zeek Weekling, aka Glen Burtnik and Bob Burger, respectively, from the fabulous Weeklings. Featuring the considerable talents of Liar’s Club’s Scott McPherson; the great singer and songwriter Andrea Perry; the Corner Laughers’ not-so-secret weapon KC Bowman; and Vanilla’s Kirk Adams, Pop 4 is the melodic pop supergroup of 2015. Their hall-of-fame-worthy album, Summer, releasing soon, is destined to appear on many best-of lists this year.
“Don’t You Be Like That” is a luscious mid-tempo ballad painted with a harmony-soaked brush and the sweetest, most seductive melody we’ve heard in a very long time. The combination of enticing lead vocals from Andrea, Kirk and Scott; a middle-eight sent from nowhere less than heaven, and a subtle, George Harrison-esque electric guitar run come together to produce a song that will stay with you long after you’ve heard it. And, trust us–you’ll want to hear it again, and again, and again still.
“Don’t You Be Like That” is one of the catchiest songs we’ve heard in ages. Don’t miss the album from which it comes when it drops later this summer which, by the way, is now officially our favorite season of this year.
Don’t miss the exclusive worldwide radio premiere of Pop 4’s “Don’t You Be Like That” tonight, July 14, at 8 pm ET on Pure Pop Radio! And stay tuned after the Pop 4 premiere for more of the greatest melodic pop music in the universe, streaming to you 24-hours-a-day. We thank you!

Both shows air on your 24-hour-a-day home for the greatest melodic pop music in the universe, Pure Pop Radio.
On this week’s fresh-from-the-fabified-oven edition of Every Little Thing, Ken gets the proceedings rolling with a pair of Beatles classics, including “Because,” and solo tracks from Paul McCartney (a live version of “Can’t Buy Me Love”) and George Harrison (“Mystical One”). Tonight’s second segment comprises a tribute to the great bluesman, B.B. King, which includes a track recorded for the recent McCartney tribute album, The Art of McCartney. It’s a spectacular, bluesy version of McCartney II’s “On the Way.”
Tonight’s third, themed segment presents reggae and ska sounds featured in various Beatles and solo Beatles tracks. You’ll hear McCartney’s “How Many People,” John Lennon’s “Borrowed Time,” and Wings’ “C Moon,” among other songs. It’s another terrific Beatleriffic set, curated by Ken.
Every Little Thing is the premiere, syndicated program playing Beatles group and solo recordings. Hosted by longtime radio personality Ken Michaels, the show airs periodically on Monday nights at 9 pm ET on Pure Pop Radio.
Tomorrow night’s edition of the weekly Beatles roundtable, Things We Said Today, takes a look at Paul McCartney’s recent live shows and covers an extraordinary event in the life of Rick Glover, who joins Ken Michaels, Steve Marinucci, Al Sussman and Allan Kozinn to talk about his appearance on stage at McCartney’s recent concert in Columbia, South Carolina.
Rick Glover on stage in Columbia, South Carolina with Paul McCartney. Yeah, yeah, yeah!
Glover has seen McCartney so many times–135!–he should have an entry in the book of Guinness World Records. One of the self-proclaimed Fans on the Run, a group of dedicated folks who travel around the world to see McCartney and his band, Glover talks to the panel about his run of shows seen since 1976, joking that he started going “before any of you guys were alive, I guess.”
Glover’s tale is, at heart, a story of love for McCartney’s music. It’s a wonderful story, and Glover tells it well. You won’t want to miss this show.
Things We Said Today is a weekly survey of all things Beatles that is hosted by a quartet of Beatles experts–today’s Fab Four, if you will. Ken Michaels, host of Every Little Thing, is joined by Beatlefan Executive Editor Al Sussman, Steve Marinucci (Beatles Examiner), and Allan Kozinn, longtime music critic. Other well-known Beatles experts sometimes sit in with the core group. Things We Said Today airs every Tuesday night at 9 pm ET on Pure Pop Radio.
